Peter Tichansky Business Council for International Understanding
Peter Tichansky is the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Business Council for International Understanding, a leading business association established by President Eisenhower in 1955.
Mr. Tichansky has held his current position since November 1996. He served previously as BCIU’s Senior Vice President from 1992-1996 and as Director of Programs from 1987-1992. He is also Chairman of BCIU (Europe) Limited, the London-based European subsidiary of BCIU.
From 1984-1987, Mr. Tichansky worked at a democratic development institute in Washington established by the U.S. Congress at the initiative of President Reagan, and co-founded Gowran International, a public affairs firm in Washington, D.C.
Peter graduated from Middlebury College, Vermont, with a degree in Political Science and Religion in 1984 and was awarded a Rotary International scholarship in that year. He serves on the advisory board of the International Child Art Foundation, and has an appointment from the U.S. Commerce Secretary to the New York District Export Council. A resident of New York, Peter is married with two daughters and is an avid skier and golfer.
BCIU, a private non-profit business association which is funded by multinational corporations in a variety of industries, creates opportunities for business executives to brief senior officials on a global basis to promote corporate reputation. BCIU also fulfills its mission to promote dialogue and action between business and government by working extensively with the Departments of State, Commerce, USTR and other executive branch agencies on commercial training programs for U.S. Ambassadors and embassy officers.
